Aiphone intercom repair and replacement for Bay Area properties.
Elwin Security repairs and replaces Aiphone intercom systems at Bay Area multifamily and commercial properties. That covers GT Series analog multi-tenant systems: entrance stations, tenant stations, the GT-BC bus control unit and PS-2420UL power supplies. It also covers IX | IXG IP stations such as the IXG-DM7-HIDA entrance station and the IXG-2C7 tenant station, and the JO and JP Series, which Aiphone sizes at 2 and 4 door stations.
For properties where an Aiphone station has stopped doing its job.
A service call starts by identifying the series and testing the power, bus and release path.
01
The entrance panel is dead, rebooting or frozen
Aiphone's knowledge base says an "Initializing" message on a GT entrance panel means the station has rebooted or is rebooting. When it appears on a call, Aiphone points to a power issue: not enough power supplies connected to power the system in the long term, a third-party device on the communication wires, or a failing power supply or wiring issue. Elwin starts at the power supply and the bus, not at the panel.
02
A tenant station has failed
Aiphone's tenant station compatibility chart lists the GT-1M3 against the GT-1M-L and GH-1KD, and the GT-1A against the GH-1AD. It lists the GT-2C/2H as discontinued with no replacement. It marks the three GF Series stations it lists, the GF-1DK(S), GF-1MDK(S) and GFO-1DL, as unsupported on GT and GH systems. Elwin replaces a failed station with the model that chart names and registers it at the entrance panel.
03
The property wants the app, or wants off the analog bus
The GT-1C7W tenant station adds up to eight Aiphone Type GT apps per station and needs a Wi-Fi connection with at least 3 Mbps up and down. The IP path is the IX | IXG Series: the IXG-DM7-HIDA stores up to 9,999 names and numbers and runs on PoE, and up to eight IXG-2C7 tenant stations can be installed in a single unit.
Service focus
Repair the path, replace the station, or, for a unit under warranty, return it to Aiphone for service.
Aiphone's warranty statement says it is a bench repair warranty only and that Aiphone does not offer on-site service.
01
Repair the power, bus and wiring path
The GT-BC technical specification allows 300 m (980 ft) from the bus control unit to the farthest tenant station per bus line. The GT installation manual (issue date Dec. 2020) gives 150 m (490 ft) from the distribution point to the farthest station on 22 AWG wire. The GT installation manual says to use PE-insulated PVC jacket cable and not to use individual conductors, twisted pair cable or coaxial cable. It also says that if existing wiring is used the device may not operate properly and the wiring will need to be replaced, so Elwin tests voltage at the bus controller and at the station before condemning hardware.
02
Replace the station Aiphone names
Aiphone's GT entrance stations and kits page lists data sheets for the GT-DMB-N, GTA-DESB, GTV-DES104B and GTV-DES202B. The GTV-DES202B kit assembles the GT-VB and GT-VP camera module, the GT-DB and GT-DBP audio module, the GT-NSB and GT-NSP-L display module and the GT-10K and GF-10KP keypad module. Elwin fits the station the chart or data sheet names and registers it at the entrance panel with the clearing and reprogramming sequence Aiphone publishes (updated December 16, 2025).
03
Send it to Aiphone, or replace the system
Aiphone warrants its products for two or five years from the date of delivery to the end user, depending on the series. Its warranty excludes repairs or modifications made outside Aiphone's facilities, so Elwin does not open or modify Aiphone stations. An in-warranty defect goes through Aiphone's repair order: technical support troubleshooting first, a Repair Order number within two business days, the RO number on the box with proof of installation date, and repairs shipped back within three business days. Out of warranty, Aiphone requires payment details before issuing an RO number, charges a diagnostic fee if no issue is found, and bills parts, labor and return freight. Elwin prices a current GT or IXG station, or a different video intercom, against that path.
Service check
What Elwin checks before quoting an Aiphone repair or replacement.
A model name on the faceplate is not enough. Elwin checks the series, the bus and power layout, the wire and the delivery date before quoting.
01
Series and station models
GT, GH or GF; IX | IXG; JO or JP; which entrance station and tenant stations are fitted; and whether Aiphone's compatibility chart lists a current replacement for the station that failed.
02
Power and bus path
Which PS-2420UL supplies feed the system, which GT-BC each trunk runs through, and whether 24 V DC is present. Trunk length is checked against the 300 m (980 ft) limit, and the wire type against Aiphone's PE-insulated, non-shielded rule and its existing-wire chart.
03
Warranty and firmware status
Delivery date against Aiphone's warranty period (2 or 5 years, depending on product series), and the proof of installation date a warranty repair needs.
Scope details
An Aiphone repair can involve more than the entrance panel.
The entrance panel is what visitors see. The bus controllers, the power supplies, the wire and the door release are what a repair touches.
GT Series stations
Aiphone's GT documents list the GT-1A and GT-1D audio tenant stations, the GT-1C7W video tenant station and the GT-MKB-N guard station. The GT installation manual sizes a standard system at a maximum of 5 entrance stations, 2 guard stations and 48 tenant stations, and an expanded system at 16, 4 and 500. The GT installation manual allows up to four tenant stations in the same residence.

Bus control, power and wire
The GT-BC audio bus control unit distributes power and data to GT stations, runs on 24 V DC from a PS-2420UL and draws 0.9 A maximum. Aiphone's GT brochure (revised 01/2024) says it can be installed in a wide array of configurations using a building's 2-or 4-conductor cable. The GT manual states that one power supply can power up to four residences if no sub stations are used.

Door release
The GT-DMB-N and GTV-DES202B each release the door through a Form C dry contact rated 24 V AC/DC at 4 A. The IXG-DM7-HIDA carries two programmable Form C contacts at 24 V AC/DC, relay 1 at 3 A and relay 2 at 500 mA. An Aiphone GT data sheet lists the door release as Form C dry contact, 24V AC/DC, 4A.

IX | IXG stations and firmware
Aiphone's IXG Support Tool carries a Station Replacement feature and a firmware update feature. The standard firmware for both stations is version 4.30, released October 8, 2026.

Process
From a dead entrance panel to a working entry.
Elwin identifies the system, tests the path, then quotes the repair or replacement.
01
Identify the system and test the path
Record the series, the station models, the bus controllers and the power supplies. Test voltage at the bus controller and at the station, then the calls, the directory and the door release. The GT manual calls for low-voltage lines to sit at least 30 cm (12 in) from high-voltage lines, so wire routing is checked, not assumed.
Result: The quote names the exact Aiphone station, wiring fix, repair order or replacement, not a generic intercom repair.
Field proof
What Aiphone's own documents say about repair.
Entry hardware photos: a panel replacement at a mailbox wall, and a gate with a keypad lock and a video intercom. Neither photo shows Aiphone equipment.
Aiphone's warranty statement (4-1-2025), retrieved October 12, 2026, warrants products against defects in materials and workmanship for either 2 or 5 years from the date of delivery to the end user. It lists AC Series Access Control, the IX Series, the IXG Series and J-Series Video (JO, JP and JV) as its 5-year products; the GT Series is not on that list.
The same statement excludes misuse, neglect, accidents, electrical surges, lightning, water or physical damage; failure to follow provided instructions; repairs or modifications made outside of Aiphone's facilities; batteries; and third-party products or user-added functions. It calls the warranty a bench repair warranty only and says Aiphone does not offer on-site service or cover field repairs, service calls or consequential damage.
Aiphone's repair order process starts with Technical Support (Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM Pacific) and issues a Repair Order number within two business days. Aiphone's warranty statement says to put the RO number on the shipping box and enclose the RO form and proof of installation date.
Aiphone's knowledge base pages for the GT-1C and GT-2C (updated June 11, 2026) say "This station is discontinued and may no longer be supported."
Aiphone's firmware pages, retrieved October 12, 2026, list standard firmware version 4.30 for the IXG-2C7 and the IXG-DM7-HID(A), released October 8, 2026, with the note "Bug fixes."

Core service areas for property-first security work.
Elwin serves Bay Area properties from Santa Clara outward, with access control, cameras, intercoms, door hardware, and low-voltage planning tied back to the site conditions in each city.
It depends on the model. Aiphone's knowledge base pages for the GT-1C, GT-2C, GT-DM and GTA-DES say "This station is discontinued and may no longer be supported." Aiphone files the GF, GH and GM Series under Legacy Multi-Tenant Series and the IS, JF and JK Series under Legacy Video Intercoms.
No. Aiphone's warranty statement (4-1-2025) says the warranty is a bench repair warranty only and that Aiphone does not offer on-site service or cover any costs related to field repairs or service calls. Its repair process begins with phone troubleshooting through Technical Support, Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM Pacific, and a unit that needs service is shipped to Aiphone under a Repair Order number. Elwin performs the on-site work: testing power, bus and release wiring, swapping stations, and packing an in-warranty unit for Aiphone's repair order.
Aiphone's compatibility chart lists the GT-1M3 for the GT-1M-L and GH-1KD and the GT-1A for the GH-1AD, and lists None for the GT-2C/2H.
Aiphone's GT-1C7W compatibility chart marks the GH-DA, GT-DA-L, GT-DM, GT-DMA, GT-DB, GT-DB-VN and GT-DMB-N entrance panels Yes and the GF-DA/B No. It says each GT-1C7W needs additional power from a dedicated PS-2420UL or, for up to four stations, a GT-4ZP distribution adaptor on a single power supply. Up to eight Aiphone Type GT apps can be assigned per GT-1C7W, and the wireless LAN cannot be used without an internet service contract.
Aiphone's knowledge base says the Initializing message means the station has rebooted or is rebooting. When it appears as a call is placed, Aiphone points to a power issue on the system. Its three listed causes are not enough power supplies connected to power the system in the long term, a third-party device connected to the communication wires that feed the station, and a failing power supply or a wiring issue.
Yes. Elwin replaces Aiphone systems with a current Aiphone GT or IXG station or another video intercom, reusing release wiring where it tests sound. The next step is a service call to identify the series and test the power, bus and release path, or a site walk if replacement is already on the table.
