Comelit intercom repair and replacement for Bay Area properties.

Elwin Security repairs and replaces Comelit door entry systems at Bay Area multifamily and commercial properties.

For properties where a Comelit system has stopped doing its job.

Each of the three situations below has a different fix.

01

A monitor or the whole riser is dead

Its 1210 SimpleBus 2 power supply powers the external unit on terminals L1-L1 and the support column, the riser, on terminals L2-L2, and Comelit's portal now lists that supply as 'Sold as a Spare Part'. When the monitors on a riser are out, Elwin tests the mixer, the power supply and the line termination first.

02

One apartment's monitor has failed

Elwin swaps the failed monitor for the Comelit model that fits the riser and the wall opening.

Repair the riser, swap the monitor, add a gateway, or replace: Comelit's documents decide.

Comelit's product portal states each part's availability, and its catalogs state which power supply, mixer and system each module needs, so the first job is to identify the system (SimpleBus 1, SimpleBus 2 or ViP), the panel modules and the monitor models.

01

Repair with Comelit's current parts

Comelit's Ultra leaflet says the flat cable allows modules to be easily connected and automatically configured in case of replacement. Elwin repairs with the Comelit part that matches the system and the module slot.

02

Fix the power, the riser and the release path

Comelit's relay actuator module lists 12 to 24 V AC/DC at 10 A max; the 4577 SimpleBus 2 cable has two 1 mm² conductors. Elwin tests the mixer outputs, the line termination, the riser and the lock-release relay before replacing a panel.

03

Add app answering, or replace the system

On a SimpleBus 2 riser, Comelit's 1406 module forwards calls to SimpleApp for up to 50 apartments with 15 users each, needs an internet connection, and only receives calls if a Comelit internal unit is installed in the apartment. On a ViP system, the 1456B gateway needs one licence per apartment, manages up to 400 Master or 200 Slave or Phone licences, and forwards to a maximum of 15 devices per apartment. Where the riser, the panel or the licensing does not fit the property, Elwin replaces the system with a Comelit ViP panel or another video intercom.

What Elwin checks before quoting a Comelit repair or replacement.

A brand name on the faceplate is not enough. The bus type, the mixer and power supply, the monitor models and the gateway decide which Comelit part or path applies.

01

Panel and modules

Ultra, Quadra, Vandalcom, SteelTouch, SteelSwitch or an older panel; which audio/video, keypad, directory or button modules are fitted; and whether the panel sits on a third-party plate, which Comelit's UT9333 adapter accepts at 1.5 to 3 mm thickness.

02

Network and licences

Internet service at the panel, Cat5e or Cat6 runs and PoE switches for ViP, and which 1406 or 1456B licences the property already holds.

A Comelit scope has four parts, and the panel is only one of them.

The entrance panel is what visitors see. The riser, the mixer and power supply, the monitors and the gateway are what a repair touches.

Entrance panel and modules

Comelit's Ultra is a modular panel 'available with 2-wire or ViP technology', built from 9.5 x 9 cm modules. Quadra sets 1 to 4 call keys by DIP switch.

  • Quadra, Vandalcom, SteelTouch, SteelSwitch
  • Digital directory and keypad modules

Power, mixer and riser

5 or higher' for ViP.

  • 4888CU mixer
  • 1216 line termination

Gateways and the network

Comelit's general catalog sizes 1440 PoE switches as the number of intercom devices divided by 4, plus 10 percent. The 1406 module and 1456B gateway need an internet connection; Comelit's 4G LTE option connects systems to the cloud for sites without broadband.

  • 1406 SimpleBus 2 app module
  • 1456B ViP multi-user gateway
  • 1440 PoE switches and 1441 supplies

From a dead riser to a working entry, with Comelit's own parts and paths.

The process keeps repair decisions tied to Comelit's published catalogs, data sheets and product pages instead of guesswork.

01

Identify the system and test the path

Record the bus type, mixer, power supply, panel modules, monitor models and gateway, then test power, calls, lock-release and the riser at the panel and at a monitor.

Result: The quote names the exact Comelit part, gateway, hybrid interface or replacement, not a generic intercom repair.

02

Install, configure and hand off

Fit the part or new panel, restore power and the riser, program monitors, load app licences, and test each call path and relay.

Result: The entry works and the property can manage its own directory.

What Comelit's own documents say about its systems.

Comelit's brochure, leaflets, catalog and product portal set the limits, parts and availability that a repair quote rests on.

FAQ

Some models are. On October 12, 2026, Comelit's product portal listed the 6602W Icona ViP monitor as 'Discontinued - Limited Stock Remaining' (with the 6602W/A in the same line), the 3453S SB1 316 Touch panel as 'Discontinued', the 6101W Planux monitor as 'Spare Part - Limited Stock Remaining' and the 1210 SimpleBus 2 power supply as 'Sold as a Spare Part'.
