Enterphone intercom repair and replacement for Bay Area properties.

Elwin Security repairs and replaces Enterphone systems at Bay Area multifamily and commercial properties: iQ, 19 and Kiosk panels, door-release, phone-line and network connections. Hirsch publishes Enterphone datasheets and installation guides.

For properties where an Enterphone panel has stopped doing its job.

The fix depends on which part of the system failed: the panel, the call path, or the release wiring.

01

Calls are not reaching residents

Hirsch's installation guide connects the panel's RJ11 phone line to a POTS port through the supplied 115243R3R surge protector. On Enterphone 10.3 and V12 panels, Hirsch's guides describe SIP calls to the Enterphone Mobile app. Which path a panel uses decides where the call failure sits.

02

The door or gate no longer releases

By default, tenants press 6 on their telephone keypad for Enterphone Relay 1, or 8 for relay 2, to release the door. By default a tenant presses 6 to release Relay 1 and 8 to release Relay 2, and both digits are configurable.

03

The property wants out of an end-of-sale product

For a property that wants a video intercom instead, Elwin replaces the Enterphone panel and reuses the door-release wiring where it tests sound.

Repair, reconnect or replace: the panel and its call path decide.

Hirsch's documents set what each path requires, so the first job is to identify the panel, its software version and how its calls leave the building.

01

Repair the panel and its wiring

The iQ, 19 and Kiosk datasheets list 12VDC 5A power requirements. The cited page says internal components that require replacement need Hirsch factory-approved parts and a Hirsch-approved technician, or the warranty is void.

02

Reconnect the call path

Hirsch's datasheets say Enterphone panels support a subscribed phone line out of the box, and its Enterphone flyer lists a no-phone-line option that uses existing copper wiring to call units directly. On Enterphone 10.3 and V12 panels, Hirsch's guides describe SIP calls to the Enterphone Mobile app.

03

Replace the system

Elwin replaces the Enterphone panel with a video intercom and reuses the door-release wiring where it tests sound.

What Elwin checks before quoting an Enterphone repair or replacement.

A name on the faceplate is not enough. The screen size, software version and call path decide which Hirsch documents and licenses apply.

01

Model and screen

Panel model and part number, screen size, and whether it is touch or keypad driven.

02

Software and call path

Enterphone version, whether SIP is enabled in the license, and whether calls use a POTS line, copper wiring or the Enterphone Mobile app.

03

Release path

Which relay drives which door or gate, and whether an Enterphone Cube or Primis Encryption Bridge adds card readers. Hirsch's datasheets list up to two card readers with an Encryption Bridge and up to 16 readers with an Enterphone Cube.

04

Keys, warranty and directory

Whether the property holds the panel keys, since Hirsch does not retain copies and a lost key means lock replacement at the customer's expense; the warranty status; and who maintains suites and users today.

An Enterphone scope has four parts, and the faceplate is only one of them.

The panel, the call path, the relays and the programming are what a repair touches.

Panel electronics

Hirsch's installation guide lists four external connections for the iQ and 19: an RJ45 Ethernet cable, an RJ11 phone line cable to a POTS port, an electric door strike cable, and mains power through the included 115242R3R supply. The cited page says Enterphone models have an earth-ground connection that must be permanently connected to the building earth by a skilled person.

Call path

The iQ datasheet lists an included USB camera for snapshots of placed calls and door-release events. Hirsch's guides note that snapshots stop once SIP is enabled because the SIP client takes over the panel's webcam. The Enterphone Mobile app keeps call history and recordings for up to 30 days unless the user saves them.

  • No-phone-line copper option

Programming and handoff

Hirsch's Solution Guide says parameter files should only be changed if instructed by Hirsch technicians.

The process keeps repair decisions tied to Hirsch's published wiring, warranty and licensing rules.

01

Identify the panel

Record the model and part number, screen size, software version, SIP status, call path and relay wiring, and test calls, keypad or touch screen, display and release at the panel.

Result: The quote names the exact part, license or connection, not a generic intercom repair.

02

Choose repair, reconnect or replacement

Match the failure to Hirsch's documents: a power, phone-line, network or relay-wiring fix, a SIP license and Enterphone Mobile enrollment, or a replacement panel or system.

Result: The property knows what the fix costs and what it leaves in place.

What Hirsch's own documents say about Enterphone.

Hirsch's Enterphone iQ datasheet shows a revision date of 2024-11-07.

Hirsch's installation guide states that two people are required to safely mount an Enterphone 19 or iQ, and that at least two of the four mounting screws must be anchored in wall studs.

Hirsch's Cube datasheet lists a one-year warranty and requires the Enterphone Cube to be installed in a protected environment; the Cube runs Linux with a SQL database on a 120 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM from a DC12V 5A 60W adapter.

FAQ

The notice names no end-of-support date, and Hirsch still publishes the Enterphone datasheets (revision date 2024-11-07) and installation guides (REV A, 06-24-2024).
